elgato WAVE DX

The Elgato Wave DX microphone has a sound that rivals other mics that cost 5X more! It is one to consider when looking for a mic for gaming, podcasting, YouTube, streaming, etc…
The Elgato Wave DX is a dynamic microphone that is tuned for voice. The top end is clear, the low mids are scooped a bit for clarity, and the low end is deep, but controlled. This mic doesn’t really need EQ, but it takes EQ well if you want to further shape it. I would compare the sound to the RODE Procaster or EV RE20 – they are somewhat similar in tonal balance.
This is an XLR mic, no need for a Cloudlifter, it has a hardened steel body, internal pop-filter, and single swivel arm.
It has a Cardioid pickup pattern, and the frequency response is:
50Hz – 15kHz
Being tuned for voice, this microphone will work well for gaming, streaming, podcasting, YouTube, Content Creation, and Zoom calls, but it can also work in the studio.
When you consider the price, the Wave DX really punches above its weight. It’s a great sounding mic, period.
In the video below we compare the Wave DX to the king of content creation mics – the Shure SM7B (technically the SM7dB, but they sound identical)
Which mic sounds better? Well that’s for YOU to decide!
