ADAM Audio D3V Studio Monitors – They Don’t Lie

The ADAM Audio D3V’s are incredibly flat speakers with a wide frequency response which makes them perfect for mixing audio. What you hear is what is there, no hype in the top and bottom end like many speakers. Just FLAT.

Which means your mix will translate better on other systems.

D3V – Black & White

The D3V are small enough to be placed on a desktop, and can be mounted on monitors stands or even microphone stands thanks to the built-in 3/8″ mount on the bottom.

The frequency response is 45Hz – 23.2kHz which is very impressive for 3.5″ speakers.

They have Analog 1/4″ TRS inputs and a Digital USB-C input for direct connection to a computer, phone, tablet, etc…

D3V Rear

The sound quality is pure, balanced, crisp, and punchy.

The D3V’s are perfect for those who want small monitors that they can mix with, and trust the mix.

The addition of the USB-C port is a nice feature for those who want to use these monitors in a mobile setup with an iPad Pro for example and not have to use an audio interface.

You could also use the D3V monitors for gaming, movies, etc… but the experience will be different than using soundbars or Hi-Fi speakers that are usually tuned to hype bass and treble.

It would be nice to have a Bluetooth option for these speakers, but that’s more for non-professional use and isn’t a requirement for most audio engineers.

D3V Frequency Response

The D3V monitors are made for professional audio. They are very flat, and if you’re not use to flat speakers you may think they sound like they have a blanket over them or lack energy. But that’s because most people are use to speakers that hype the low/high end and scoop the mids to create a more energetic and deep sound. It may sound “good” but it’s not accurate and can lead to poor mixing decisions.

The D3V’s will allow you hear what your mix actually sounds like, every detail, nuance, and thump.

And that’s what you want in a studio monitor.

They don’t lie.

Check out the video below for an overview of the D3V’s and hear sound samples in comparison to other studio monitors.
